Toolkit for Change
Opens 28 Feb 2023 12:00 (GMT)
Description

For this Toolkit to be effective there must be agreement and buy-in from everyone within your organisation.

Start with an honest review of your history and acknowledge who held, or holds, power. How might this have created barriers? Have some people been excluded from employment, taking part, or benefitting? Make a commitment to grow your knowledge and understanding by reading and listening to the lived experiences of your marginalised communities, staff and stakeholders – often painful to hear, but done with care and sensitivity it will be critical to the process.

Alongside the online Action Platform, we have a downloadable workbook so you can work collaboratively with colleagues or stakeholders to inform the selection of actions.

The Toolkit for Change’s Actions are organised into core and optional topics.

There are three core topics which are universal and so everyone should work through these:

  • Process
  • People
  • Money

As there is such a wide range of organisations in the craft sector, we have optional topics covering a variety of activity which we have called 'Programmes'...

  • Awards and Opportunities
  • Business Support
  • Craft Networks
  • Education
  • Events and Talks
  • Participatory and Community Craft
  • Selling Craft
  • Showing Craft
  • Spaces for Craft

The Toolkit for Change has been structured as an annual schedule to be repeated or built on each year. The schedule includes a self-review period allowing for evidencing and celebrating progress and consideration of what next.

The Toolkit for Change Schedule:

Stage 1

Application and action planning: submissions deadline 31 April 2023

The most important stage where your organisation commits to change. Selecting the relevant chapters and planning actions for the next stage. The workbook will help you with collaborative working.

Stage 2

Implementation: 31 April to 30 November

This is where the hard work happens, and actions are implemented.

Stage 3

Review period: 31 November to 31 January

This is a time to reflect on your implementation period. How did it go? What could you do better?

Don’t worry we will send email reminders to you and we are always here to help.
